What Does The PADI Open Water Diver Course at Adventure Club Include?

The PADI Open Water Course is divided into 3 components (1) Knowledge Development, (2) Confined Water Dives and (3) Open Water Dives, as follows:

Knowledge Development: This is where you learn about the theory of diving and there are two options for completing this component.

  1. PADI E-Learning: PADI E-Learning allows you to study all of the Knowledge Development sessions online before you come to Phi Phi. PADI E-Learning allows you to work from home, at your own pace and fit your studying around your existing schedule. When you arrive at Adventure Club Phi Phi you’ll just need 2 days to complete the practical diving sessions – which are the best part!
  2. Studying here in Phi Phi – It is also possible to complete the Knowledge Development when you are here. You’ll work through the PADI Student Manual and videos and answer quiz questions as you go along. You’ll study in our dive centre overlooking the beach and the ocean – it will be the best classroom you ever had! There is a final exam at the end. To take the complete course including theory at Adventure Club takes 4 days.

Confined Water Dives: These sessions give you the chance to practice basic dive skills in a safe and controlled environment. At Adventure Club Phi Phi we are extremely fortunate to be able to walk off our white sand beach into the ocean where there is a shallow sandy area for practicing skills. Your instructor will talk you through the skills step by step and give you a full demonstration before you try yourself. As well as learning basic skills, you’ll also run though how to deal with a range of emergency situations should they occur. These sessions are a lot of fun and give you the opportunity to get familiar with the gear and techniques before making your first real ocean dives.

Open Water Dives: This is what it is all about – you’ll be making your first 4 dives in the ocean! We aim take you to the Bida Islands and Phi Phi Ley Island so you make some epic dives during your program. During the dives you’ll be asked to show your instructor the skills that you practiced previously and in between you’ll be blown away by our underwater world! You’ll learn what it’s like going out on a boat diving trip and you’ll experience the camaraderie on board. It’s a LOT of fun!
